Zen Master Ji Bong

Ji Bong Dae Soen Sa Nim

We are a welcoming community (sangha) of lay Zen students. Our guiding teacher is Zen Master Ji Bong (Robert Moore, Ph.D.) – a Zen master for more than two decades. Our practice is rooted in the Korean Zen tradition of Zen Master Seung Sahn.

We are here to support laypeople practicing Zen meditation as a form of “together action.”

As lay practitioners we have families, friends and jobs. Our days are filled with just trying to live. Though not a monk nor as well known in the west, Laymen Pang described it thus:

“My daily activities are not unusual. I’m just naturally in harmony with them. Grasping nothing, discarding nothing. In every place there’s no hindrance, no conflict. My supernatural power and marvelous activity: drawing water and chopping wood.”

Practicing Zen offers us a way to be present for our own lives. It means finding your true nature for yourself just by living.

We offer a range of opportunities for Zen practice, Dharma study, and personal growth in a warm and supportive environment.

Due to the pandemic all of Golden Wind Zen Center’s activities are currently conducted online. To find out more about us and about Zen, call us at (562) 277-1831.
